Tim Tripp
Manager, Medical Informatics, UHN and SIMS Partnership
As Manager of the Medical Informatics group within Shared Information
Management Services at the University Health Network, Tim has coordinated the development, implementation and evaluation of diagnostic alerts in the electronic patient record system. This includes managing the process from the working group stage where initiatives are identified, through identifying best practice, moving initiatives through the hospital approval cycle, initiating and guiding the implementation of initiatives in the patient record system, and evaluating and presenting on the impact of the initiatives to various levels of management. Other projects span the spectrum of decision support from the clinical to the patient level, including the implementation of a web-based virtual library and a computer

Tim is currently managing a growing group of informaticists and developers working to improve patient safety through the implementation of alerting, communication and documentation tools integrated with the electronic patient record.
Tim holds a Bachelor of Science in Biology from the University of Guelph, and a Masters in Library and Information Studies from Dalhousie University. Before joining UHN in 1999, he managed the library at MD Robotics in Brampton, ON (formerly Spar Aerospace Ltd.). He currently sits on the Board of Directors of the Canadian Health Libraries Association.
