Dr. Cavalcanti is a General Internist and Site Program Director for Education at the Toronto Western Hospital, University Health Network. He is an Assistant Professor of Medicine at the University of Toronto. He holds an MD degree and an MSc degree in Clinical Epidemiology, both from the University of Toronto, and a Diploma in Tropical Medicine from the Gorgas course (University of Alabama and Universidad Peruana Cayetano Heredia). He is an award-winning teacher in undergraduate and postgraduate medicine. His research interests have included adverse effects of antiretroviral therapy for HIV and the impact of technology on education. His educational focus is on ambulatory consultant skills for General Internists and promoting scholarship in residency.
