Monika is a social worker in General Internal Medicine at the Toronto
General Hospital site of the University Health Network. Prior to TGH she has worked at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Center and Toronto East General in General Internal Medicine, Critical Care, Cardiology and Nephrology. Monika graduated from the University of Toronto in 2006 with a Masters in Social work and has an Honors Bachelor of arts in Psychology. She currently is a member of several collaboration committees at Toronto General and recently has been the lead in a project to orientate residents and medical students to General Medicine at Toronto General.
Monika has worked with the elderly, mental health consumers,
underhoused/homeless individuals, children/teenagers and numerous newly diagnosed/palliative patients through her various professional roles. Having worked at various Toronto Hospitals in General Medicine Monika has developed a diverse and well-rounded perspective of acute care patient populations. At the frontline level she is dedicated to patient safety, psychosocial functioning and the well being of patients and their families. Other interests of Monika's include supportive and grief counseling for issues relating to changes in roles/functional status, coping and diagnosis.
