K Locke

Ken Locke, MD, MSc, FRCP(C)

Mount Sinai Site Lead, Centre for Innovation in Complex Care

Ward Chief, Mout Sinai Hospital

Ken Locke has been a member of the medical staff of the Department of Medicine, Mount Sinai Hospital since 1998.  He completed both his medical degree and postgraduate training in Internal Medicine at the University of Toronto.  He subsequently obtained a Master of Science from the Department of Health Policy, Management and Evaluation.   He is currently Ward Chief at Mount Sinai, and a Clinician Educator in the Department of Medicine.

At Mount Sinai, Ken has led a number of inpatient initiatives designed to enhance both patient care and the work practices of the multiple disciplines that make up the health care team.  He has contributed to the redesign of interdisciplinary care rounds, the design and implementation of the step-down unit for the medical wards, and, most recently, a novel Web-based tool to allow messages from nurses to medical trainees to be separated into urgent and non-urgent streams.

Ken continues to collaborate with other members of the Department of Medicine at the University Health Network and Mount Sinai Hospital in innovating to improve education and patient care, as both institutions face increasingly complex challenges in health care planning and delivery.
