Herbert Ho Pink Kong MD, FRCP(C)

Professor of Medicine, Unversity of Toronto

Dr. Herbert Ho Ping Kong is presently the Senior Consulting Physician at the University Health Network (Toronto Western Hospital, Toronto General Hospital and Princess Margaret Hospital) and a Professor of Medicine at the University of Toronto. In 2004, he was the first recipient of the Gladstone and Maisie Chang Professor of Internal Medicine Teaching at University Health network and UofT, which he is utilizing to develop novel ways of teaching the higher levels of general internal medicine practice to senior medical students (CC4) and senior residents (R4) in general internal medicine.  Prior to this, he was the Founder and First Director of the Division of General Internal Medicine at the Royal Victoria Hospital (McGill University1981), co-founder of the Centre of Excellence for Education & Practice in General Internal Medicine (GIM-CEEP) at Toronto Western Hospital, Chairman of the Specialty Committee in Internal Medicine at the Royal College of Physicians of Canada (1986 to 1992), Director of  the Internal Medicine Training program at the University Health Network (1990 to1999) and Chief of Medicine at the Toronto Western Hospital.  

Dr. Herbert Ho Ping Kong is also a multiple Award winning Teacher at the University of Toronto.  Awards include the Department of Medicine Outstanding Teacher 1989, Hollington award 1989, Aikens Award for Excellent Teaching performance 1990, National 3M Teaching Fellow of Canada 1999, and the National Osler Award of Excellence for the Canadian Society of Internal Medicine 2003.
